Tho Pukakt took lier departure on Saturday evening' for Greymouth direct. The Northern Company's steamer Aupouri arrived from Tauranga yesterday morning'. She Bails for tho same port at 4 p.m. to-day. At 7 p.m. on Saturday the Ngapuhi arrived from Whangarei. She leaves for tho samo port at 9.30 o'clock to-night. Mr. W. T. 1 log-nri rejoined the Wimmera at Sydney as purser this trip, having relieved Mr. S. Patrick, who joined the Westralia as purser. Mr. J. L. Roberta, formerly chief steward' of the fjliniaroa, joined the Wimmera at, Sydney in a similar capacity, relieving Mr. T. Millen, who has gone ashore on holiday leave. On Saturday afternoon the Union Company's steamer Tarawera sailed for East Coast and Southern ports. She is due at Dunedin on Thursday. torly on Saturday morning the Koromiko left for West port direct. She is to load coal at tho West Coast cml i>ort hack to Auckland. The Hauroto, which was to have been withdrawn from the East Coat»t< service for overhaul, is making another trip North, in place of tho ilonowai. She left Dunedin on Jriday afternoon for East Coast ports and Auckland, and js duo here on Thursday. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Xiuakiiui arrived at Ilchart on Friday morning from London, via Capetown. She is due <»t Wellington on Wednesday morning. The auxiliary schooner Waiapu is having a new tail shaft fixed and other slight, improvement* made. On Saturday next she will leave for 'Laurang.i and will make regular trips to that port each week, leaving Tuur.utga on the return trip every Tuesday. During the. passage of the Ulimaroa from Melbourne to the Bluff wireless communication was kept lip with the Victorian port until the Bluff was reached. From the Southern port the Ulimaroa pot into touch with Wellington, and on Thursday night messages were received and sent to H.M.S. Cambrian, then at Golden Bay.
| The Rosamond took about 44 hours to accomplish the passage from New Plymouth to OneI hunga at the latter end of last week. She cleared the Taranaki port on Thursday afternoon, and did not reach Onehunga till noon on Saturday. Sho experienced heavy head seas for the greater part, of the passage. The Rosamond left again on Saturday afternoon for Wellington, Picton, and Nelson. DRAYTON GRANGE AT WELLINGTON. The Federal-!louldcr-Shire liner Drayton Grange arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from Liverpool, via' Capetown. From Wellington she proceeds to Napier and Auckland, and she should arrive here about tho end of this week. DURHAM ARRIVES HOME. Cable advice from London stales. that the Fedc-ral-Houlder-Shire liner Durham arrived at London from the Bluff on Thursday last. The vessel cleared the Southern port on April 3, and has accomplished the passage in 52 days. PA KEI IA AT SYDNEY. Tho Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer I'akeha arrived at Sydney from Liverpool on Friday last. The vessel is expected to leave the New South Wales port some time this week for Auckland, and sho should put in an appearance here about June 6. THE SOUTHERN BOAT. The Iluddart-Parker steamer Victoria, Captain Entwisle, arrived from Southern and Fast Coast ports at 1 p.m. yesterday, and berthed at the llobson-street Wharf. Leaving Dunedin on Tuesday afternoon last the vessel called at the usual East Coast ports en route, experiencing fine weather throughout the voyage. The Victoria sails at 5.30 p.m. to-day for Sydney direct. WIMMERA ARRIVES FROM SYDNEY. At 1 p.m. yesterday tho Huddart-Parker steamer Winiinera, Captain Waller, anchored in the stream from Sydney direct-, after a passage of just, under four davs. After being granted pratique, the vessel berthed at the Queen-street. Wharf, where she discharges about 800 tons of cargo. I<eaving the Now South Wales port at 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday last sho experienced light to moderate south-west and north-east winds, with smooth seas and moderate head swell, thence thick fogs to arrival. The Wimmera sails at 3 p.m, to-mor- ] row for East Coast and Southern ports. SHORT OF COAL. The steamer Auchenblae, 3985 tons, of Glasgow, put into Auckland yesterday for a supply of bunker coal. Tho vessel is bound from Caldera (Chili) in ballast to Newcastle, for orders. Sho left Caldera on April 29, and her coal supply running short the captain decided to make for Auckland to get. a fresh supply. She experienced moderate weather on the passage. The Auchenblue will be coaled in tho stream this morning, after which she resumes her voyage to Newcastle.
DEN OF GLAMIS LEAVES NEW YORK. Tho steamer Don of Claims, under charier to the American and Australian Steamship J'VBP> left New York on May 16 for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand ports. The vessel will make Auckland her first port of call in the Dominion, and she should put in an appearance here early in August. Another vessel, under charter to tno same line, is expected to clear New lork about July 5 for Australian and New Zealand ports. She should arrive here about the end of August.
THE WAIRUNA. The Union Company's large cargo steamer Wairuna cleared Gisborne at 1 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, and is due here this afternoon. She is bringing a cargo of produce from the Bluff, Oamaru, and Timaru, and berths at the Railway Wharf on arrival. , .
lONIC DUE 'TO-DAY.
The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company's steamer lonic left Gisborne at 7.10 fl.m. yesterday for Auckland, arid should arrive here this morning. The vessel berths at the Railway Wharf to load frozen meat and general cargo for London, alter which she proceeds to Wellington. THE NGAIIERE. The Blackball Coal Company's collier Ngahere arrived from Grevmouth yesterday afternoon with a cargo of coal" for Messrs. Winstone, Limited. The vessel left Greymouth on Wednesday night last, and met with strong head winds and head seas till making the gulf yesterday morning, when she encountered a thick fog. She proceeds up to Chelsea this , morning to discharge. DELAYED BY FOG. A denso fog prevailed in the Haurnki Gulf early yesterday morning, and vessels making for port were considerably delayed in consequence. The fog was also very thick in the harbour, and the ferry steamers had to proceed with extreme cau'ition. Tho Huddart-Parker steamer Victoria was about four hours late in reaching port from the South, and she had to stop for some time when within the vicinity of Tiri until the fog had lifted. Tho Wimmera, from Sydney, was also considerably delayed, and she did not reach port till afternoon. The Northern Company's steamer Aupouri made a lengthy passage from Tauranga, and she anchored for four hours in Rangitoto Channel, arriving in port at 1 p.m. yesterday. The Rotomahana, touched bottom at Motuihi while coming up from the Thame?, but she floated off at high water.
