The Niwani arrived at Melbourne on April 24. the' time occupied on the pussago to that port being 42 day# 17 hours. After discharging cargo at Melbourne the vessel - proceeded to Sydney, where further cargo was discharged, and departure, was taken from that port at. 8 a.m. on Tuesday last, fine, weather being experienced on the run across the Tasman Sea. The Niwaru is commanded by Captain J. K. Compton (late of the llawke's Bay), and he has the following officers assorted with him: — Chief officer, Mr. S. C. Cotfcell; second, Mr. G. Frogley fifth ; chief refrigerator, Mr. O. Hanson ; second, Mr. D. McQueen. Owing to the Niwaru having sprung it leak on the voyage out a general average of 1 per cent, has been struck. From this port she proceeds to Napier and Wellington, for which • port she -sails about Thursday, next. TRANSHIPMENTS. HARDWOOD FROM BUNBURY. : The Scales chartered steamer Clan Ross arrived in tho stream at 5 p.m. ,j»estenljiy from Bun-; bury, after a passage of 19 days. The vessel brings a largo cargo of hardwood for Auckland and Tauranga. She berths at the new Queenstreet Wharf this morning to discharge, and then proceeds to Tauranga. On completion of discharge at. that port the Clan Ross loads at various Dominion ports for '.London.',';.: VICTORIA ARRIVES FROM SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parker steamer Victoria, Captain G. F. Entw.isle, arrived in tho stream ,at| 5 p.m. yesterday from Sydney direct, after a passage of four days four hours. The vessel brought 128 passengers and a • largo general ' cargo, and after medical inspection ' herthed at the, Hobson-st-reet Wharf. She ]eft Sydney, at . 1 p.m. on Wednesday last, and met" with fine weather throughout the passage. The Victoria made a"' smart run from Cape Brett, covering the distance from that point in the quick time of seven hours.'
