SNAKE IN A MOTOR CAR.

When motoring in the Murrabit district, near Koran (Vic.), Mr. W. Dunn and some companions passed a fully-grown tiger snake lying on the track. A dispute as to whether the snako was dead or not caused Mr. Dunn to back tlio car towards the reptile, which as soon aa tho hind wheel touched it, proved to bo very much alive. Having a gun with him Mr. Dunn got out of tho car, but tho snake had disappeared. The other occupants of the car sppnt a rather uncomfortable few minutes wondering where the snake would next mako its appearance. Presently . the fly-wheel, which was running slowly, stoppod. Quickly comprehending the cause, Mr. Dunn put on full speed ahead, and the snake, which had crawled into the engine of the oar through a small hole in the metal screen, was chopped into mincemeat.
