MEN'S DEMANDS CONCEDED*
By Telegraph.— Association— (Keceivei March 14. 6.5 p.m.) Sydney, March 14. A strike of 50 casual hands employed ati capstan men at the Railway Department's wheat-loading sidings at Darling Island ">: to-day caused a complete stoppage of work.. . \ Altogether over 800 employees are affected. .-. The strikers demanded an increase of pay. The Department conceded this as 'V far as day work was concerned, but re-; fused the full increase asked for nigho work. Several vessels are stuck up. (Keceived -March 14, 10 p.m.) ' »>; Sydney, March 14. The strike at Darling Island was de-> clared off late this afternoon, the men's! demands being conceded. These! were an increase from 7s 6d to 8s per day of! ■' '' eight hours; an increase from Is to Is 6d, per hour for overtime.
