MORRISON'S TRIAL,

• The defence put up by. Morrison suggested that the ; murder was a result of Nihilist revenge. ' Morrison admitted that he used the name of Alexander Petrapavloff in a petition to : the Home Secretary, praying to be repatriated to Russia. Nevertheless, he said his name was really Morrison, and that he ' was born in , Sydney ;in 1882. He admitted . a number of convictions since 1898 for theft and /burglary, and in " a dramatic ' outburst said "That is the 'reason the police are down on me." The defence has closed.' *".
