ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.
THE HANDICAPS.
This year the Anniversary Regatta, which takes places on Monday, promises to be a very successful event. All arrangements have been made, and given fine weather a record attendance should be present. The entries received this year exceed those of last year, and a number of interesting races are promised. The Union Company's line steamer Atua will, act as flagship, and at the conclusion of the programme will make a trip round to Rangitoto Channel and back. An interesting feature of the regatta will be the warships in port. The French warship Kersaint, and the Condor representing Germany's navy, are; at present in the harbour, and though it was hoped a British man-o'-war would also be here it is now doubtful if this, will be possible. The training-ship Amokura is due to-mor-row, and will remain in Auckland until after the regatta. , It is probable that each ship will be represented in the races. Whangarei v ill be represented at the regatta by three yachts. Messrs. Cutforth's boat and Messrs. Ewing Bros.' Scout left together on Wednesday, and the IMgahau, which has been overhauled, will leave to-morrow afternoon. ,
