Ix feply to Mr. R. W. Stiles (secretary to ihe Pitt Memorial Committee), the Priree Minister has confirmed the grant of £300 towards the memorial. Sir Joseph 'Ward, telegraphed from Rotorua the other day as follows : —"ln reply to your, letter, I provided for £.300 direct vote" to the Pitt Memorial, and 'it affords me much pleasure to. be able to place this amount to the credit of the committee whenever required in order to have a suitable memorial elected to the memory of my old friend, aid one wild, in Lie, had gained the respect and esteem of all. who knew Mm." -. \ ■ ".
