The Liverpool four-masted steel-.barques Crompton and Dun«taffiiage are reported gold to Ger- > man buyers.- The Crompton is of 2717 tons net -- legister, built in 1890. .TlieiDunstaffnage.is of 3129 tons riot register, built, in 1892. The steel ship Kin,r Edward, 1657 tons. nH,. built, in 1891, - is reported as sold to Finland owners for £5400. She has been lying for some time at Dunkirk.
: c SUSSEX ARRIVES FROM LIVERPOOL. The Federal-Houlder-Shire liner Sussex arrived from- Liverpool, via Capetown, Sydney, Welling'-' ■■■■■ ton; and Oisboriie,. at '3 a.m. yesterday and berthed at .the Queen-street Wharf. It will he remembered that the.Sussex, was- damaged in a collision with the steamer New-stead while enterv ing La« l'almas on October 22, the result being a -.. bi;r dent in . lie bows well above the water-line, The vessel left Liverpool on October 1.5 and ex-' perienced fine weather on the run down to Las l'almas, which was .reached on October 22. After ii stay of live days>. while repairs were effected, the vessel left again on October 27 for Capetown. ■!.-'■' For the first pare of the voyage fine weather was ■-:'. experienced, ■■practically no north-east trades being- met - with. ■■■_ When at 1 degree south the -.". south-cast trades were encountered, and these in- - creased in strength to immoderate pile until 28 degrees south was readied. the weather was at its worst the-vessel lost a blade of her propeller.. Sydney was reached on December, 12, and the vessel commenced the final ; stage of her voyage on December 16. On the run' across the Tasman Sea north-westerly.gales were experienced until the New Zealand coast was sighted. Captain H. W. Robertson is in command, and has with him the following officers : — Chief, Mr. E. Grant; second, Mr. A.' Macrae; third, Mr. F. J. Powell; fourth, Mr. George" Watson. -Mr. H. Griffiths has charge of the ; engineroom and Mr. A. Taylor is second. Mr. F. T. Pearse. auxiliary second, Mr. .1. McDonald third, and Mr. W. Smith fourth. Mr. B'. Belgrade is chief refrigerating engineer and Mr. W. O. Griffiths is second. The chief steward is Mr. 11. Carter. The Sussex, after discharge here, proceeds to Port Chalmers to be docked for the purpose of replacing: the propeller blade which .was lost on the voyage out. While in. dock she will also be cleaned and painted.
