BUCKLAND.
[from our OWN correspondent} A most successful conoert in aid of funds for tho local Lawn Tennis Club took place in tho Buckland Public Hall on Friday evening, the 30th nit. Lieutenant-Colonel S. O. Schofield (president of tho club) occupied the chair, and an excellent and varied programme, which was thoroughly appreciated by the largo audience present, was contributed by town and local talent- Tho entertainment. concluded with a dance.
Mr. H. H. D. Wily has resigned from the position of scoutmaster of the local troop of boy scouts, and the leadership has been assumed by Mr. C. M. Abel, who, prior to leaving Auckland, was assistant scoutmaster of tho First Granges troop of boy scouts.

Cambridge, Saturday.
The Rev. W. E. Conolly,' of Auckland, who has been appointed to the curacy of St. Andrew's Church, arrived on Thursday last, and enters upon his duties on Sunday, taking the services at Leamington, Ohaupo, and Tamahoro. During tho abscnco of the Yen. Archdeacon Willis on his annual holiday, the Rev. J. C. Fussell, of Epsom, is acting as locum tenons. Mr. and Airs. Jas. La Trobo celebrated their golden wedding this week. This aged and respected couplo were married at, Raglan, which district they left a few years ago to come and reside here.
A unrulier of cadets attending tho district high school have recently been engaged firing for a silver cup, presented _by Mr. H. L. Nixon. Lieutenant S. R. Wall is was tho winner with a score of 101 points. Cadet Mull ins being second with 95 points, and Sergeant. Ash win third with 90 points. A presentation of a photographic shield was made to Miss Dean this week by her pupils of the Presbyterian Junior Young Women's Bible-class, in recognition of that lady's faithful efforts in connection with the work of tho class. Accompanying tho shield was a loving letter from the pupils. The theft of £5 noto from tho residence of Mr. Jas. Dean, at Leamington, was reported to the police on Saturday morning. Tho note had been deposited in a chest of drawers, and the occupants are perfectly certain that tho note has been stolon during their presence in tho house. The police are following up a likely clue.
