DEATH OF R. F. DOHERTY. By Telegraph.— Press Association.Copyright London, December 29. The death occurred to-day of B. F. Doherty, the famous tennis player. From 1897- to 1900 R. F. Doberty was the singles champion of England," after which he never competed in singles championship events. His younger brother, H. L. Doherty, held the championship from 1902 to 1907, when he retired, and Brookes had the honour for a season. The two brothers won the doubles championship no less than -eight times between 1897 and 1905. R. F. Doherty was one of- the finest exponents of the game the world has seen.
