Tho thirteenth annual match for the banner and challenge shield, played annually, between foursomes representing Christehurch and Otago Golf Clubs, was played on Shirley links on Saturday. Otago won tho shield i>y two holes to Canterbury's one. Tho scores arc as follows: — Otago: H. C. Smith and R. J. Smith, i; H. A. Salmon and J. B. Park, 1; Turnbull, 1; F. L. Best, J: total, 2. Christehurch B: B. AVood and W. Harman, J; B. C. Kutherford and P. Trolove, 0; C. K. Summs and J. A. Gow, J: total, 1. The eleventh competition for the Hosking Campbell shield, for competition annually between teams representing Christehurch and Otago Golf Clubs, was also played, the match ending in a draw. Tho following are the scores: — Otago: H. C. Smith,' 0; H. A. Salmon. 0; Turnhull, 1; J. It. Park, 1; E. J. Smith. 1; F. L. Best, 0: total. 3. Christehurch: B. Wood. 1; B. C. Eutherford, 1; J. A. Gow, 0; W. T. D. Harman, 0; C. K. Sams. 0; P. Trolove, 1: total, 3. B. B. Wood won his match fairly easily by six up and five to play. Rutherford won by one up, and Trolove by three up and one to play. Turnbull only succeeded in beating Sams after a very hard struggle, tho Southerner winning at the 20th hole.
