A caul and bazaar in aid of the funds of ! 1 . the Waihi Federal Brass Band was opened ] : in' the Drill Hall last evening by the Mayor {Mr. John. Newth). The building was artistically decorated, and the stalls !?gf!4:: : and exhibits most tastefully arranged. The stallholders and assistants were as ,; under:—Tearooms: Miss Godkin and Miss Hill, assisted by Misses McDermofct,. ; Radford, , and Taylor. Temperance . drinks: Messrs. Moorehead and Irwin.: ; V .Novelty stall : Mr. Hurley. . Fruit stall: MesdamesLudwig and ' Short. Flower ?!'v stall: Mesdames C. Dunstaa and Catchpole, assisted by Messrs. Hales (2). =. Fancywork stall: Mrs. McCarthy, assisted gSffi'.-; '/:, by aliases Kelly and Butcher. Lolly :- stall : Mrs. Rangeley, assisted by Misses. McCarthy, Godkin, Steer, and White. Faccywork stall (No. 2): Mesdames Steer, McLeary, Summers, and Thomas, %s£:x% .Misses Steer, Henry, Kirker, and Calder- [ wood. The baking competitions, which were judged during the afternoon, resulted as follows Fruit cake, Mrs. Reid; ■';'-- seedcake, Mrs. W. J. Dunstan; Madeira ,cake, Mrs. ' McKenna; Swiss roll, Mrs. Twfityj Victoria sandwich, Mrs. Ford; plain scones, Miss J. Parsons. The prize ■ ; : for the best basket of flowers was won "K by Mrs. Jobey. On. the whole, the gala, ;;• which continues open for a week, reelected credit on all conserned, including -" the general secretary (Mr. QilJet) and sec- - retairy "of the ladies' committee (Mrs. | McDermoti).:• . .
