SIR GEO. REID'S LECTURES.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.— (Received November 12, 12.30 a.m.) London, November 11, Sir George Eeid (Federal High Commissioner) is visiting Birmingham as the guest of Mr. Joseph Chamberlain.

Lecturing last evening Sir George defended the *' White Australia" policy, maintaining that Australians were justified in trying to reproduce a country such as the Homeland.

The worldwide cry was for cheaper meat. When the barrier was removed Australia would. ha,ve an opportunity of supplying the millions.

The Commonwealth progressive land tax would bring millions of fertile acres, now locked up, into cultivation.
