DIED AT SEA.
[by TELEGRAPH. —press association.] Christchurch, Saturday. A death occurred on board the ferry steamer Mokoia yesterday, while the vessel was on her way from Welling-' ton to Lyttelton. A saloon passenger named Julia Stace, 44 years of age, belonging to Pahautanui, near Porirua, who had been committed at Wellington t-> the Ashbourne Hall Mental Hospital, Duiiodin, joined the Mokoia at Wellington in charge of her brother and married sister. She had been, in charge of a nurse, who put her to bed on board the vessel about seven p.m. and administered a sleeping draught before leaving her to the care of her sieter, who occupied the same cabin. The nurse did not accompany her patient, who was found dead about six a.m. yesterday. An inquest was opened yesterday afternoon, but was adjourned for the production of an essential exhibit.
