THE WHITE CITY.
[I'RGM OCR own correspondent.} London, September 16. Though it is not generally upposed that Shepherd's Bush is still as popular as ever, we are told that the attendance to date this year aggregates over five millions, in excess of the figures for ISOB.
THE FIGHT PICTURES.
The much-discussed pictures of the Reno glove fight, it: all 6000 ft of films, were shown on Monday at the National Sporting Club, and proved to be very harmless, one person stating that any person who could tie demoralised by seeing them would certainly lose all his morality if he saw a cab accident. Tho fight itself was rather dull, and not at all like the highly-coloured wo?,i-paintings of it. The truth is that the cinematograph leaves out all adjectives. There was much more wrestling than boxing, and fear of a blo.v to the stomach, from his opponent (who tried for nothing else) was evidently the motive of Johnson s tactics up to the eighth round, when Jeffries was obviously tiring.
WELLINGTON HARBOUR LOAN. The Inventors' Review says ail amusing incident has come to light in New Zealand concerning the Wellington Harbour Board and its refusal to sanction a proposed 'cau. HINT FOR FREEZING COMPANIES.
Mr. E. D. Giles, of Canterbury, makes 3 suggestion of interest to the New Zealand freezing companies. He thinks unless they adopt some means of sending their mutton to look attractive, the Argentine will beat them, as the latter's get-up is much superior, and their mutton, to look at, quite as good. He suggests that the Dominion freezing companies should uso better bags, ljiore like the Argentine ones, and be more careful in shipping and butchering.
