DIVORCE AND RE-MARRIAGE.

Thk Rev. N. I). ring, of Shepparton (V ictoria/, stated last- week: "By allowing divorce, with the right of re-marriage, we as a community sanction in its grossest form the. sin condemned by the seventh commandment." He added: "I believe that our legislators are actuated by the highest motives to protect unfortunate women who have made unhappy and disastrous marriages; but, to my mind, they have totally overlooked the highest welfare of the community. We mutt legislate for the whole community, and no more for individual eases than for particular cases." Mr. Herring declared that- he would not celebrate the holy rites of marriage with any who had been divorced, whether thev were the innocent parties or not.
