AN AUCKLAND SOLICITOR.
CASE BEFORE APPEAL COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Friday. In the Court of Appeal yesterday, mention was mado of the proceedings instituted by the Auckland District Law Society calling upon a solicitor practising in Auckland city to show cause why lie should not be dealt with under the punitive clauses of tho Law Practitioners' Act of 1903. Mr. A. W. Blair (Chapman, Skerrett, Wylie and Tripp) appeared for the solicitor in question (Mr. J. F. Pullen), and explained that the proceedings concerned the sending of a- letter by Mr. Pullen to another Auckland solicitor. Application for tho issue of a. rule nisi had been made within the past day or two to Mr. Justice Sim. in Auckland, and the judge had referred the matter to tho Court of Appeal. It was particularly desired that the Court of Appeal should consider the case at the present sitting, because otherwise the dolay that must ensue, if the matter were not disposed of until the April session, might have some permanent effect upon Mr. Pull en's health. Mr. Justice Cooper : He has not been suspended? The matter has merely been referred to tlio Court of Appeal? Mr. Blair : That is so, Your Honor. It was arranged that the case would be taken on Monday next, Mr. Blair intimating that in all probability the Auckland Law Society would be able to be represented hero on that day.
