An improved tone prevailed on the Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday. In mining lines Waihis showed a marked tendency towards recovery, selling at £6 10s and £6 lis, as compared with from £6 7s to £6 6s 6d to £6 Bs, the previous day. The closing quotations were buyers £6 10s, sellers £6 lis 6d. Grand Junctions changcd hands at. the advanced prices of from 37s to 37s 3d to 375, and further buyers wero loft at 37s 3d, sellers at 37s 6d. Talismans remained firm, being quoted at 52s 9d, sellers at 53s 3d. In investment stocks Northern Steamships (paid) sold at 15s 6d, and (con.) at 7s 3d.
