LOOKING TO AMERICA.
WHAT AUSTRALIA IS DOING. VICTORIA'S LAND POLICY. / By Telegraph.— Association.—Copy (Received October .2, 5.10 p.m.) New York, October 1. The Hon. H. McKenzie, Minister for Lands in Victoria, who is one of the delegation sent to England and America for the purpose of inducing emigration to that State, said, in speaking at the Irrigation Congress at Pueblo, Colorado, that Australians were more and more looking towards America for information as to the best methods of accomplishing the industrial development of their country. Generous terms, Mr. McKenzie said, were offered to settlers in Victoria, and a more rapid progress was expected to take place in the closer settlement of the State.
NEW SOUTH WALES' EFFORTS. FARM HANDS AND DOMESTICS London, September 30. The New South Wales Government's emigrants for the quarter include 323 farm hands and 80 domestics. A total of 846 were nominated, and the number shipped would have been considerably larger if steamer accommodation had been available.
