THE FISHING SEASON.
[BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.! Christchuech, Saturday. The opening of the fishing season brought out a big army of fishermen. Last night the north-west wind blew till about 2.50, when a bitterly cold south-wester came up. At daylight the wind went round to the east, and the conditions were still unpleasant. In the circumstances the takes were fair. The largest fish reported from the fSelwyn, where most of the enthusiasts are fishing, are seven-pounders. The fish are in excellent condition.
