THE HUIA HUNTERS.
A FRUITLESS SEARCH,

Wellington-, Monday. After spending 11 days in the biifh in the Upper Rangitikei district, in search of huia birds for the Government bird sanctuary at the Little Barrier, Mr. Edgar Stead returned to Wellington this evening, and reports that he was unable to procure any huias. It is understood that he will make a further attempt at a later date. Some very rough weather was experienced during the lime the party were in the ranges, but Mr. Stead and those associated with him arrived back all well.
