HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT.

Sir,—Permit mo a reply to "Another Ratepayer," who is partly " informed," and has been making investigations. I knew all about the difficulties of the Hospital Board long before 1 " rushed into print," but the difficulties are no excuse for the Board not supplying accommodation for the nurses. Another Ratepayer" is informed" that the Board is doing all ih«.t it can to expedite the extension of the Nurses' Home. So they are, but the exloii sion should have been completed long ago, instead of only just being contemplated. No, sir, it is the same old cry that the Board has been giving voice to for the p&st three or four years, and I know the girls are tired of it, and very rightly so. "Another Ratepayer," when he conducts his next investigations, should look in another direction to learn some facts, and unless be is either a patient, or personally acquainted with the members of the staff, lie has no hope of ever getting to the root of tho trouble. Might I suggest to him to

extend his investigation? from. •" efficiency with economy" to the cause of practically all tho trained nurses leaving the hospital, and the utter inability of the Board to cb>» tain others to take their places. Or, if perchance he keeps on the same tack, ho v.'ill bo nearer accomplishing his desired end. In conclusion, allow me _to inform; " Another Ratepayer" that it is at the request of some of tho nurses, that I have thus " rushed into print." Thanking you • in anticipation, and apologising for thus en» croaching on your valuable space. Ratepayer.
