Ax the meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board to-day the consideration of the circular from the Coromandel Hospital, with reference to the withdrawal of free beds from the Sanatorium, in which support was asked for, in an endeavour to have the previous: system reverted to, was deferred. It was decided Ito take the solicitor's opinion as to whether the Board could convert ordinary; leases into Glasgow leases. ; The Hospital Department notified that provision was made in the St. Helens Hospital : for the training of two women from country districts as midwives, free ox charge, on condition that they would agree to give their services for two years in a district approved by the Board. It was decided ,to invite applications from those desirous df undergoing training. It was decided to engage a married couple for the Old Men's Home, at 50s per week, and to grant Sirs. Beck, the present caretaker, three months' leave of absence on full pay, and then to terminate her engagement. It was agreed to increase the salaries of sisters and charge nurses to £60 for the first year, £65 for. the second, and thereafter £70.
Also to supply uniforms. The resignation of , Sister Christie was received . with re-
gret, the Board expressing appreciation of her services. Miss Stevenson was appointed to fill the vacancy.
