The following are the scores of Dunedin's four ex-champions of New Zealand against Mr. Jordan:— Won. Lost. Drawn. Negotiations with New Plymouth are in progress. Later Mr. Jordan visits Auckland and Huntly. The Auckland Workingmen's Chess and Draughts Club undertaken to guarantee Jordan's expenses during- his visit to this city. The champion is due on September 4. The following game (from the Otago Witness) was played between Messrs. J. M. Mutton and A. Jordan in the Otago Club. This gtve the impression that Hutton had won, and cheers and exclamations greeted Hutton so vociferously that for a. moment or two iie seemed uncertain himself what the result was. A revelation of the truth created inucn laughter and merriment. A match will he played between the Leys Institute and Auckland Workingmen's Chess and Draughts Clubs on Friday next. There will be twenty players a-side—lo chess and 10 draughts. Kntries closed on Monday for a draughts tourney end also s. chess tourney at the Levs Institute. Seventeen players entered in the draughts section and 10 in the chess. Both are handicaps, which will be made by points.
