AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION. INCREASE OF PLANT. THE Auckland City Council met last evenin?, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr. L. J. Bag-nail). Messrs. A. J. Entrican. P. M. *ackay. w. a. Thompson, J. M. Mennie, G. Knight, P. J. Xerheny, B. T. Michaels, 11. Shaw. M. Casey, C. J. Parr. H. M. Sineeton. G. Tint. R. Tudehope. G. E. Bead, and J. Patterson. c The tender of Messrs. John Chambers and Son for an additional Babcock boiler for the electrical power station (to be eventually built up with the present boilers into a batterv) at £1399, was accepted, this being £80 less than the previous contract price for the same class of boiler. The tender- of Messrs. Richardson and Blair, at £121, for a j Weir pump was also accepted, i The electrical engineer recommended the making of the road on the new site, to cost £500, including: kerbing and drainage, the amount to come out of c special provision in his estimate of £1000 for preparing the site. The recommendation was approved. The engineer reported that the total number of customer's for the electric power supplv was now 504. It was decided that the electrical engineer report on the cost of lighting Symondß-street by electricity. The Ngaruawahia Town Board applied for the services of the electrical engineer in reporting on the best means of lighting the township with electricity. The application was referred to the Electric Committee. THE WATER SUPPLY. WAITAKEREI DAM. The engineer in charge of the water suppiv improvement wonts at WaitaKcrei recommended that instead of repairing the damaged timber dam at, Waitakeret it would oe better to raise the concrete nam 2ft, at an estimated cost of £300. to make up for ttie loss of storage in the upper dam, ana stating that the concrete dam could stand another Bft with perfect safety. The Water Committee, by whom the report had been considered, 'recommended that instead of repairing the timber breastwork of the upper dam, the concrete wall of the main reservoir -£ lnc "[eased in height by another course of oft. the report was adopted. * ili ,VI I, resv cd, on the recommendation ot the water Committee, that the city engineer report on the question of increasing the size of the Mount Eden reservoir, with an estimate of cost. Pending the receipt of this report, it was decided to defer making a quotation for supplying water from that reservoir to the Eerauera Road Board.
