" The booking for the song and piano re- , cital at the Choral Hall to-night : is heavy, and Miss Mary Cooper and Mr. Cyril Towsey are certain of a hearty welcome. There are still a few reserved seats, and if early application at Wildman and Arey's is made, good positions in the hall may be: secured. Trams will run to the Choral Hall from the Three Lamps before the recital, and to all suburbs immediately after the last , item. . BOWLING CLUB SOCIAL. - . The annual social and dance of the Grey Lynn Bowling Club was held in the Druids' Hall, Newton, on Wednesday,; evening last. There was a very large . attendance. :■ The president (Mr. J. M. Thomson) presided, having with him the patron -of. the club (Hon. Geo. Fowlds). - The early part of the evening, was devoted to a concert and presentation of trophies won by; members during the past season. During an interval in the programme the . Hon. G. Fowlds presented the trophies, and at the close of the concert the. president made a presentation of a handsome gold albert .and medal, suit-: ably inscribed, to the. secretary and treasurer of the club (Mr. C. Wheeler), who suitably replied. .The Hon. G. Fowlds intimated his intention of presenting the ladies: with a croquet set on the opening, of their green. Dancing was indulged in till the small hours of the morning.
