THE NATIONAL EXHIBITION.
A DESIRABLE UNDERTAKING. [BY TELEGBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Christchuuch. Thursday. The Lyttelton Times considers ; that the proposal to hold a National Exhibition ,in Auckland during 1915 or 1916 has '* much to commend it to the favourable consideration of the Government. The Panama Canal will be completed about that ; time, if the great engineering work t progresses as rapidly as the Americans hope it will, and this country will have a very; direct interest, in the opening of . the new, waterway between the Atlantic and, Pacific Oceans. ■ The time ■ would ibe opportune for a special effort to display our resources and draw visitors to'our shores/ : ■;; The International Exhibition : held in Christchurch practically paid its own way, and its educative influence on the people, both'in the industries and the- arts, was even more important than the , advertisement it; gave •to the Dominion ,in the older countries. ,". ?
