It consists of Goldbird and Hydrant, Century Hurdles candidates; Moccasin, Steeplechase; Ballarat, sprint events; and Royal Marine, who is engaged in both hack and open eyente, and Penates, whose special mission will be the Connolly Handicap, in which he will be ridden by C. Jenkins. . The Porirua. team for the same fixture consists of Lovell, in the steeplechases, Playmate and Mill p on d , as hurdle representatives, and St. Felix in the b (Continuance and Paiaano, who are in the same stable, will both be starters m the Century Hurdles. The former will be ridden by Telford, and is supposed to be the candidate most fancied by the stable, and the latter will he ridden by his trainer, G. Jones. TRAINING NOTES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANTTI, Saturday. The weather continues fine for trainjng operations. A large number of visiting horses arrived yesterday, including Waitanu, Pharos, Golden Loop, Compass, Patrobus Merry Lawn, Waikaraka, Wimmera, Maori King, and Bridge. Somo good work was done this morning. Boanerges hadi tne better of St., Bill over six furlongs in lm. 18s , and Nyland took lm. 20s. to do the s.-une distance. St. Felix ran a half mile in 54g and Playmate went two rounds on tho plough. Voca, Overtime, and First Consul galloped five furlongs in lm. 4Js., the former aving slightly the best of the go. Stourton occupied lm. 6s. Compass and Merry Lawn iumped five furlongs fairly well. Mill Pond, '(Telford) and Aorangi (Williams) cleared six hurdles splendidly. Research and John hopped off a mile, Patrobus joining in at six furlongs, and The Lark at the half mile. John galloped well, and finished in front. Research being beaten off. John's time was lm. 50s. Continuance (Telford), Paisano (Jones), and Pearl Reef were associated in a couple of rounds over schooling hurdles, the two former giving a capital exhibition of .lumping.
