IN THE CHURCHES.
ANGLICAN SERVICES. MOURNING CONGREGATIONS. A united form of memorial service was followed by the various Anglican churches in the diocese of Auckland. The service generally followed the order for the burial of the dead," as set forth in the Book of Common Prayer. In most of the churches the service was impressively opened with the playing of the "Dead March" in "Saul," or other funeral marches, and in others it began with the singing of a suitable hymn. Psalm xc. was sung, and the lesson was from the 15th chapter of the first epistle of St. Paul to tl»e Corinthians. Then followed the sentences prescribed in the burial service for use at the graveside, "Man that is born of woman," etc. After the lesser litany and Lord's Prayer the versifies commencing " The Souls of tho Righteous" were sung. Then .followed the prayers for King George and the Royal , family. In many churches-a sermon or address in reference to' the- departed King was also given. After the Benediction was pronounced, there was a short pause for silent prayers, and the service in each church closed with the singing of the National Anthem. Suitable hymns were chosen in each church.
