AN ADMIRAL'S DEATH.

By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. (Received May 20, 8.45 a.m.) London, May 19. The death is announced of Admiral Sir William Garnham Luard in his 90th year, as the result of a carriage accident. Admiral Luard entered the navy in 1833, being made a lieutenant in 1841 in recognition of services in China. He was gazetted for service in the capture of Rangoon and Kcmmendine in 1852, and was captain of the Conqueror at the storming of the Simono-seki batteries in 1864. He was chairman of several Admiralty Committees and president of the Royal Naval College from 1882 to 1885, when he retired as Admiral.
