MEETINGS.

UNITARIAN YOUNG PEOPLE'S SOCIETY. The first ordinary meeting of the- Unitarian Young People's Society was held on Tuesady evening, Rev. W. Jcllic, 8.A., presiding. More than 50 members wore present. Mr. V. Piper reported in favour of continuing the dancing class this season, and was instructed to ask Miss Spencer to conduct classes fortnightly. Mr. H. Lcpine was appointed delegate to tho Debating and Literary Societies' Union. The programme consisted of Shakosperian readings, selected by the president from " Henrj 1V.," "Midsummer Night's Dream," ' Tho Tempest," and Macbeth." The programme for next meeting is a debate on the previous Saturday's issue of tho New Zealand Herald. TAMAKI WEST ROAD BQARD. At the first meeting of tho now Tamaki West Road Board Colonel Holgato was elected chairman. It was decided to hold a special meeting of the Board at an early date to push on arrangements in connection "with the extension of the tramway service to St. Heliors. LOYAL DOMINION LODGE, 1.0.0. F. There was a large attendance at tho opening of tho new hall of the Loyal Dominion Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., on Tuesday evening. Amongst Oddfellows present wore: Bro. J. Clark, Deputy Grand Master of New Zealand; Bro. Thomas, P.P.G.M.; Bro. Aickin, P.P.G.M., and officers and members from the other town lodges. A social had been arranged for, but was postponed until 31st inst., on account of tho death of the late King. The N.G. proposed and tho G.M. seconded, "That this lodge place on record its deepest sympathy with the Queen-Mother, the King, and the Royal Family, and an expression of loyalty to King George." The motion was carried in silence. During the evening P.P.G.M. Bro. Thomas presented the lodge with a case for the : dispensation and a merit board. The N.G., in accepting the handsome gift, thanked Bro. Thomas, and expressed tho hope that Bro. Thomas would be spared to . see the board well filled with names. Two new members were initiated and received tho honours of the Order. P.P.G.M. Bro. Thomas acted tis conductor. The honours of the Order were accorded to the visiting brethren. The D.G.M., in thanking the lodge for his reception, made an interesting speech on Oddfollowship. The other officers present also thanked tho lodge for their welcome, and all complimented it on the excellent progress made.
