There was a good muster of players, among whom was a large number of new men. The practice took the form.'of' -.'; a tournament, games of half-hour duration being ' ■' played. , ■■•■■_■ . - . j! The first match was that played between West End and -Ponsonby, and resulted . in the latter team defeating last year's champions by five goals to four. For the winners Nolan (4) and Snale'y scored. For West End Browning (2), 'McCoy, and" Blomfleld • were the recording agents. ." ■ , In the next game, that between Aucklai.-'d and . Grafton, the Graftonians had an easy victorv, they scoring 10 goals to Auckland's four. The • goal-throwers for Grafton were Philson (3), Fisher (3), Smith (2), Stewart, and Worslev. Auckland's goals were thrown by Wilson (2), Elliott, Wattcrs, and McCoskrie. • - The final match produced a keen contest;? in A 'i which many of the freshmen showed to some ad- s'. vantage, and resulted in each side notching four ; goals. Goals were thrown for Ponsonby bv Mc- ' "' Coskrie,' Swales, Dr." Bade, and Nolan, ■ and for Grafton by T. Walton (3) and Smith (2).
