HUNTING.
PAKURANGA HOUNDS. The annual meeting of tine Pakuranga Hunt Club was held at the Haymarkut, Albert-street, jesterday afternoon, Mr. H. T. Gorrie presiding. The annual report stated that during the past season the hounds had hunted 33 times. At the. hound show at Wanganui, the club's exhibits secured four first and four second prizes. The huntsman had now 13 puppies up to 10 weeks' old, and it would be a good thing for these young hounds if they could be walked out for a few months. Arrangements had been mado to hold three hunts a fortnight in Auckland. The club was in a strong financial position, and the balancesheet showed that there was a balance of £174 standing to the club's credit in thebank. The following officers wore elected for the ensuing year:—Master, Mr. E. Dennis O'Rorke; hon. treasurer, Mr. Sydney Halliday; hon. auditor, Mr. R. E. Isaacs; hon. secretary, Mr. R. P. Kiuloch; Executive Committee, Messrs. W. R. Bloomfield, H. R. McKcnzie, R. Allan Bent, J. H. Dalton, C. Wallace, J. Adams, and S. Hamblin; General Committee, Messrs. H. B. Webster A. R. Harris, B. Myers, I. Gray, H. Smales,' H. C. Tonks, C. Roberts, J. Roulston, C. C. Davis, W. C. Motion, A. J. Kidd, E. G Elliot, R. A. Bent, A. E. Hattaway, W. Muir-Douglas, T. A. Brown, E. Bilkey C Do Pass, C.-Wallis, C. C. Dunlop, S. Hamblin, Commons, F. Dunlop, H. Wwivard K. S. Hfllaby, A. P. Reid, and J. Adams. ' Mr. Gome said that the past, season had been a most successful one, and their thanks were duo to the farmers for the generous way in which they had allowed the club to hunt on their properties. He considered that the expense incurred for mending fences was excessive, and with a view to decreasing the amount during the coming season, saplings had been distributed through the district. Mr. O'Rorko expressed the - hope that members would support the Hunt Club races. He also referred with regret to the retirement of Mr. Gorrie from the position of joint master of the club. The Buckland family had done much for hunting in the district, and Mr. Gorrie would be greatly missed. Ho moved that in recognition of his past services to the- club, Mr. Gorrie be elected a life member. This was unanimously carried. Eight new members were elected, and the opening meet was fixed for Saturday next..
