A COURSE IN PHARMACY.
AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY COLLEGE. A letter was received at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland University Council from the Pharmacy Board of New Zealand,, stating that the Board was desirous of considering the possibility of arranging a course of lectures in the subjects of chemistry and botany, suited to the requirements of pharmaceutical students, as defined in 'the Board's examination syllabus/ At present it was felt there were few facilities in New Zealand by which such students could gain the requisite knowledge in those subjects, outsido the colleges, and the Board therefore wroto with a view to tho Council considering whether it could assist in remedying this want of educational facilities. A full meeting of the Board would be held in Wellington early in Juno, when it was proposed to deal with the matter, and a reply was solicited beforo then. The Board was prepared to • consider the advisability of making a small payment annually to tho college in the event of a scheme being settled with the Council. A committee, consisting of Mr. G. L. Peacocke, tho Rev. W. Beatty, and Dr. McDowell was appointed to confer with Professors Brown and Thomas on tfco subject, and report at the next meeting of the Council.
