Victoria, which arrived at Auckland yesterday from Sydney, reports that on Friday "last the Victoria sighted • a four-masted barquentine in latitude. 34.1 a S., and longitude 164.16 K. The " wind-jammer" 'was steering cast, and was too far away to be identified, Mr. K. J, Cloke, late third officer of the s.s. .Victoria, has been promoted second officer of the s.s. The barque Aldebaran, which arrived from Newcastle on Friday night, met with strong winds and heavy easterly seas for 15 days, thence light variable winds until teaching Auckland. THE, RANGATIRA ARRIVES. The Shaw, Suvill and Albion Company's new steamer Rangatira arrived from Liverpool, via Adelaide, on her maiden voyage yesterday morning, and, being granted pratique, berthed at. the Railway Whart. A description of the new liner and a full account of her voyage will be found elsewhere in this issue. She has 2500 tons of general merchandise to discharge at this port. WIMMERA FROM THE SOUTH. The Huddart-Parker steamer Wimmera, Captniu William Waller, arrived from the South, via ports, at 4.30 p.m. yesterday and berthed nt Queenstreet Wharf. She look her departure from Dunedin on April 12 and called at Lyttelton, Wellington, Kapler, and (Sisborne, leaving the lastnamed port at 3.45 p.m. on Saturday and arriving as above. Moderate to strong westerly winds were experienced till rounding the East Cape at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday,, thence high seas until passing Cuvier Island, where moderate weather was picked up, "continuing until arrival at Auckland. .The Wimmera will sail for Sydney at 5.30 p.m. to-day. * , THE 'FRISCO .
