RAILWAY DISASTER.
EXPRESS TRAIN DERAJLED. FORTY-FIVE "PERSONS KILLED. WRECKED CARS ON FIRE/ By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.'- ; ; (Received March 23, 12.30 a.m.) New York, March 22. A terrible railway disaster is reported from Marshaltownj 'lowa,: where an express train was derailed whilst rounding a sharp curve. A sleeping car telescoped a smoking car and a day coach. Heavy loss of life was the result, fortyfive persons being killed and twenty-one injured. V • V The wrecked cars caught fire after the accident, and those who were engaged in rescuing the injured passengers were thereby compelled to abandon their efforts. The train was travelling at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred, and this is believed to have caused the disaster.
