Considerable difficulty lias recently been experienced in lifting a long/ length of the pipe that , had jammed 1300 ft below -iiie surface. The lifting and removal of the some has now been accomplished, and'the relowering of the 6in casing is in progress. Advantage is being taken to enlarge the bore by 2in, as the lowering proceeds, thus affording the pipe line more play, in future. It is intended to carry the present 6in casing as deep as possible," and then to commence deeper operations with a string of sin pipes. The successful removal of the difficulty is viewed with much satisfaction by the company's staff, and the present prospects of-carrying the 6in casing to a good depth are promising. This , point, howevor, should be decided by the result of present operations- in a few Says. • . ' t . '
The . lifting and removal of, the damaged length of pipe that had become damaged by friction, has occasioned a'good deal of anxiety, the operation ; being a rather delicate, one, as may be gauged from the fact that when first commenced >?' the fishing for the pipe end was. being carried out at a depth of 1300 ft below the mouth of the bore.
