. . . 'Napier, Wednesday. . The Union Steam Ship Company's Tarawera, drawing 16ft- forward and 18ft 6in aft, grounded on the eastern side of Auckland Rock shoal last night, when leaving for Gisborne. ' The chart at this point shows a depth of 16ft. -

- The harbourmaster states that the water was dead low when tho vessel grounded.

After an hour and ' ten minutes the Tarawera was floated off by the rising tide, and the aid of her engines, and proceeded on her voyage, apparently undamaged. .

Gisborne, Wednesday.

The steamer Tarawera arrived here this morning. Captain Kennedy reported that no damage had been caused to the vessel.
