CREDITORS' MEETING. A meeting of creditors in the ostato of Miohacl C. Modrich took plaoo yesterday morning at the office of the official assigned Mr. E. Gerard presided. Modrich was recently adjudged a bankrupt on the petition of J. McKail Geddes, trading as Brown, Barrett, and Co- Bankrupt, who had formerly carried on a grocery and tobacconist business, and conducted a boardinghouse, assigned all his business interests and personal effects to his wife, Matilda Modrich, on September 14, and had not attended to the business since then. He was not present at yesterday's meeting. Messrs. Brown, Barrett, and Co. are tho only creditors known at present, between £70 and £80 being the amount owing to them. Tho official assignee informed tho meeting that ho had taken no notice of tho assignment made by bankrupt to his wife, and had seized the only assets, consisting of furniture, valued at £32 16s lid. Mrs. Modrich claimed . somo of this, and the assignee thought it advisable to make her an allowance of £20 under tho Act, which provided a clause for the protection of a bankrupt's family. Tho meeting was adjourned to enable the assignee to endeavour to arrange for a private examination of bankrupt's wife.
