FORTUNE TELLING WITH CARDS.

In learning the entertaining art of telling fortunes with cards it is a good idea to mark a deck of 52 cards with the meaning of each one, so that you can begin to read from the first. The significance of the cards will thus easily and rapidly become fixed in the mind. The card to represent the male or female whose fortune is to be told must be selected (net, it being the representative card. If the person has very light hair, -blue eyes, light complexion lie would be classified as a diamond. If an old man, a king of diamonds; if a -young man, as knave of diamonds; if a young woman, as queen of diamonds. Blue or grey eyes, light-brown hair will run in hearts, as king, queen, or knave. Dark-brown hair and blue eyes will run in clubs. Black hair, black or brown eyes and dark complexion will run in spades. The person whoso fortune is to be told shuttles the cards, wishing all the time while shuffling. Take the cards in your left hand (the backs of the cards being lip), take three off one by one, and lay them on the table. If there are two cards of the same suit, such as two hearts, two diamonds, two spades, or three of one suit, take these three cards and lay them in a separate pile 011 tho table, those being the cards that concern you. Keep taking three cards and repeat the same thing until you have gone through the whole pack in your hand. In laying out the three cards, if there are no two suits alike, throw them aside, those being the cards you do not use, but be sure to take all the face cards, even if there are no two suits alike. Now take the cards that concern you in your left hand (with backs of the cards up), take off tho top card and lay it 011 the table, one at a time, in five different packs, then continue putting one on each pack, until all the cards are gone. Then you proceed to read. All the face cards represent men and women ; if the nine of hearts, the wish card, is in any of tho five packs you will get your wish. If the lady whose fortune is being told is a dark lady she will be represented by tho queen of clubs, especially if she has blue eyes. In reading the packs do not fail to read the cards around her: these cards concern her the most. Take up tho first pack and proceed to read ; the first pack concerns tho house or home; if there are several face cards together it signifies company at your home; if there are several diamonds in the pack

it means laughter and merry-making ; several hearts in the pack, love for you; several clubs, business; several spades, sorrow and disappointment. In telling a lady s fortune, if the diamond its next to a gentleman its means laughter and fun with him : if hearts are next to a gentleman he has love for you; one heart signifies, love, two hearts next to him great love, etc. Clubs are business, spades are petty eorro w>> awl disappointments, etc. After looking over the prick as just explained proceed to read each card separately according to its meaning. The second pack, which signifies the fortune concerning von, read just the same «is the first pack. The third pack concerns your wish ; the fourth pack is what you do not expect; the fifth what will surely come true. After reading through the five packs have them shuflleu by the person whose fortune is being told, and then sort them again in the same way; if he gets his wish, he can make another one; if not, the person can make the same wish again. In reading try and connect the cards together, only read in a logical way. To see what kind of a person you will marry, and how soon, take the person representative curd and place it on the table, have him shuffle and wish to see whom he will marry. Take the cards in your hand (backs of the cards up), then lake off the top, placing it directly over the representative card, another on the right-hand side, another directly under it. If you are telling a lady's fortune the knave or king that comes on the lefthand side of the representative card is the man she will marry. Do this many times until you bring the face card out. If you bring out a face card right away you will be married soon, if not it will be two or three years; if you did not bring any out it will bo five years or so.
