THE IMPERIOUS DANCER.
Tub famous Spanish dancer, La Belle Otero, has met with a serious accident at the Marigny Theatre, Paris. While in her dressing-room, a small lamp was upset, and the flames set fire to the lace on her clothing. Before the flames could be extinguished she was badly burnt and fainted and she will not be able to appear for some time. Otero is very erratic in her ways, and for a whim has been known to break a contract at the height of her success. "If I don't appear," she" has said ; " 1 pay forfeit. 1 don't choose to appear, and here is the forfeit money. What more will you?" On one occasion, at Hamburg. Otero wished to co to Berlin, where her affections at that moment lay, but her impressario pointed out that it was impossible without breaking her contract and disappointing the pullic. " The public," she is alleged to have said, "that!" and she snapped her fingers as she used to do on the stage; " the management this," and she poured on the table the amount of the forfeit.
