CITY WORKS.

The following is a progress report on various city works furnished by the city engineer (Mr. W. E. Bush): —

The girders of the Grafton "bridge are finished, and boarding is' Being put in to receive the decking concrete, it js expected the decking will be finished by Christmas. Good progress is being made with the excavations for the Khyber Pass reservoir, and the work on the Archhill reservoir is progressing satisfactorily. The contractor (Mr. H. S. Wilson) has made a start with the cutting down of Lawrence-street. The pavilion between the tennis courts and the bowling green in Victoria Park is nearing completion. The conveniences at the back of the bathing shelter on Shelly beach are well underway. ' ■ . •
