DUNEDIN SUPREME COURT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Tuesday. At the Supremo Court to-day William Johnston Rae was acquitted on a charge of sheep-stealing. A youth named Answorth Livingston Perry pleaded guilty to two charges of theft from a dwelling and receiving. Evidence as to character, was proffered the Court in support of an application for probation. The judge asked if accused had revealed the name of the person from whom he had received the articles mentioned in the third charge. The police replied that he had made a statement, which they did not regard as satisfactory. The judge refused probation, and sentenced prisoner to six months' imprisonment. Edward Burgess, Edward Pyle, and John Healey were charged with having, on August 24, robbed James Andrew McLean of £17 2s, and with having used personal violence towards him. There were other counts charging accused with stealing money, assault with intent to rob, and assault. Owing to McLean not putting in an appearance, it was decided that the case stand over till next sitting. . , •
