THE GRAND JURY.
The mystery of the number constituting a grand jury was explained by f Mr. Justice Denniston at the Supreme Court, Christchurch, when the foreman asked if any majority could bring in a true brill. > His Honor said that 12 grand jurors must be agreed upon a true bill before it could be brought in, and that number was the minimum. The grand jury, therefore, could consist of as many as 23 or as few as 12.
