The turbine steamer Maheno, Captain M. Livingstone, arrived from Sydney at 8.20 a.m. yesterday, and after inspection berthed at.Queen-: street Wharf. She sailed from Sydney at 3.15 p.m. on Wednesday last, passed the North Cape at 6.43 pm. on Saturday, and arrived as above. Light easterly winds and moderate seas were experienced, throughout the voyage. The Maheno returns to Sydney at 9 o'clock to-night. "■' WAIKARE FROM THE SOUTH. The s.s. Waikare, Captain W. J. Newton, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports at 9 a.m. 3-esterda\\. mooring at Queen-street. Wharf. The vessel took her departure, from Dunedin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday last and called at the usual way ports, leaving Gisborne at 10.45 a.m. on Saturday and arriving as above. Fine weather was met with on the voyage with the exception of Napier, where rain was experienced. The.waikare sails for Dunedin, via ports, at 2 p.m. tomorrow. . THE IONIC." The large Shaw, Savill and Albion liner lonic is expected to reach Auckland to-morrow from the South to load general cargo for London. THE STAR OF SCOTLAND. The Tyser liner Star of Scotland is due at Auckland to-day from London, Melbourne, and Sydney. ■ ______ WAIWERA AND KARAMEA. The s.s. Waiwera, from London, and the s.s. Karamea, from Liverpool, are both expected to reach Auckland about to-morrow. SUSSEX LEAVES SYDNEY. The New Zealand and African Company's stearr.er Sussex, in continuation of her voyage from Liverpool and Australia, left Sydney for Auckland on Saturday and will be due here about Friday morning next. Messrs. A. H. Nathan, Limited, are the local agents for the vessel. INVERTAY CHARTERED. '. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company ha* chartered the cargo steamer Invertay to load wool and general cargo in ; New Zealand for London. The latest news of the Invertay wag that she arrived at San FrancißCO on September 25, and was to sail for Auckland and Sydney on Friday last. She will apparently load in the Dominion in January or February. The Invertay in September last year delivered a general cargo in New Zealand ports from New York. She was built in 1906 by Messrs'. W. Dobson and Co., of Newcastle, England, and is a vessel of 3793 tons gross and 2541 tons net. Messrs. Law, Leslie, and Co., London, are the owners.
