CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS. [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Conditions existing previous to the holidays still prevail, with restricted business. Demands for wheat for coastwise shipment are hardening prices.' Stock is now admittedly low, and holders are not disposed to sell at current prices. One thousand sacks of Hunters' wheat have been sold at 4s 3d f.o.b. (sacks extra), and another line at 4s Id on truck at country stations. The feeling is strong that stocks will not last till the new crops are available, and a rise is expected at an early date. The coal trouble in Australia is calculated to prevent competition from tho Commonwealth, thus further hardening values slightly. There is a better demand for oats, especially heavy samples for. shipment, but long and discoloured are not competed for. Prices are unchanged. There has been some inquiry from the North Island, but orders have not been supplied owing to the extremely limited quantity on offer. Potatoes are in ■ short supply and • prices have risen. Up-to-Dates command £3 and Derwents £4,, but the latter are difficult to obtain.
