Berlin, November 16. Germany's third improved Dreadnought, the Thuringen, will; be launched from the Bremen yard on

Saturday, and the armoured cruiser of the Invincible type in December. All the warships commenced in 1908 will then be afloat.

A BRAZILIAN BATTLESHIP.

The Armstrong- Co., builders of the Brazilian Dreadnought Minas Geraes, are constructing a sister battleship for the same Government, to be named the Rio de Janeiro.

The Minas Geraes is an extremely powerful vessel, displacing 22,000. tons, and having a speed of 22 knots. She carries 12 12in guns, 22 4.7 in quick-firers," and eight, six-pounders. •(

AUSTRALIAN DESTROYERS.

FIRST NEARLY CONSTRUCTED.

London, November 16.

The first Australian torpedo boatdestroyer will be launched on the Clyde on December 11. The Australian engineers who were sent to Glasgow to assist in the construction of the vessels speak well of their general treatment, and are quickly gaining knowledge under the programme arranged to give them complete experience.

Two destroyers have been ordered by the Federal Government for coastal defence purposes, at a cost of £81,500 each,, including armament. They are to have a length over all of 230 ft, breadth 23ft 6in, maximum draught Bft 9in, speed 26 knots, indicated horse'-power 9210, oil-fuel' and steaming radius of 2500 miles at 14 knots. They -will carry 150 tons of oil-fuel. The armament is one 4in quick-firing and three 12-pounder quick-firing guns, and three torpedo tubes despatching loin torpedoes. The complement is 50 officers and men.
