THE SILTING QUESTION.
DEPUTATIONS FOR WELLINGTON.
[B. TELEGKArH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Paeboa, Tuesday. A meeting of the Ohinemuri River Silting Association was held here last night, Mr. A. C. Hubbard '. presiding. Several letters were received from members of Parliament, who agreed to assist the association in its endeavour to have the silting-up of the river stopped. Mr. W. Scott, chairman of the Thames Harbour Board, was elected a member of the association. The secretary was instructed to arrange with Mr. H. Poland, M.P., & date for a deputation to wait on the Ministers. The Thames County Council sent word that its chairman, Mr. R. W. Bagnall, would be one of the deputation, provided that he was attending another meeting in Wellington at the time. The Te Aroha Borough Council intimated that it was in favour of sending a deputation to Wellington, and would probably send a delegate. It was decided to ask the Netherton Farmers' Union to send a delegate, and to also ask Mr. Kenny to be one of the deputation, if he is in Wellington at that time.
