FORGERY MADE EASY.

ABUNDANT BLANK CHEQUES.

i [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Chhistchurch, Monday. In oharging the grand jury at the Supreme Court yesterday Mr. Justice Denniston said that quite a number of forgery cases came before the Supreme Court, and in the majority the circumstances were similar—the obtaining and filling-up of a blank cheque, and cashing of same at some retail establishment. " The ease with which a man can tret a blank cheque," declared His Honor, " and the disgraceful ease with which he can get the cheque cashed, are leading to a large increase in forgery cases. Forgery now seems to bo treated as a first resort on the part of those who are hard up."
