GOLDEN BELT.

RETURN OF £787.

The manager of the Golden Belt mine telegraphed as follows on Saturday:—"Crushed 165 tons for £787, including cyanide."^

In the Victoria mine the connection between the bottom of the winze on tho new leader sunk from the intermediate level _to No! 1 level has been made, and a drive has been carried along westward on the leader at No. 1 level for 12ft. Good colours of gold have been seen in the quartz broken, but nothing that could be classed as picked stone. A start is now being made to carry along a leading stope over the drive. It is also intended to drive eastward on the leader so as to open up a block of ground for stoping between the two levels, a height of about 50ft. KURANUI-CALEDONIAN. [by TELEGRAPH.OWN correspondent.] ~ Thames, Saturday. Wo|k in the Kuranui-Caledonian mine is still confined to prospecting operations on Graham's leader in the upper levels in the <Kuranui section, and a connection has been effected between the old workings on this leader and the lAlburnia main tunnel. - So far, although colours of gold are seen through the quartz, nothing of a pay&blo nature has been met with. WAIOTAHI. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. In the Waiofcahi mine the drive eastward on the junction of the hangingwall leader and tho main reef at the intermediate level, between Nos- 5 and 4- levels, is being continued, and the quartz coming to hand is of good quality, and shows good dabs of gold. At No. 4- lovel tho second stope on the hangingwall leader is still producing good grade ore. A start was made yesterday with the third stope from the rise, and the lode in tho face looks well, showing strong blotches of coarse gold. WATCHMAN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. In the Watchman mine the" crosscut from tho low level to intersect the reef in the eastern spur has been extended 112 ft. The country is close grained and difficult . to break, making progress somewhat slow, hut several small - quartz' stringers have " been passed through latterly, and it is expected that the reef' will be met with inside of another 40ft of driving. Work in the May Queen mine is at present confined to the levels from No. 6 upwards, where stoping operations are being carried on as usual. The lower levels are still under water from No. 9 to tho 1000 ft, but it is expected that No. 9 level will ho cleared of water by the end of next week. In the Moanataiari . section, which is now under, the management of Mr. H. Kendall, work is being carried on near the Waiotahi boundary at No. 3 level. The Cambria reef has been driven on to the boundary, , and a connection made with the Waiotahi drive ( on the hangingwall leader- Preparations are" now in hand for putting up a rise under the break, so as to pick up the leader in the good country clear of breakWILBERFORCE VALLEY CLAIM. ..,- , [BY, TELEGRAPH.
